Loire to the South of France 2022
Why a Rick Steves Tour?
It was late May of 2021. I was visiting with my parents and we were talking about the just-released line up of Rick Steves tours. My parents were booked on the Turkey tour for 2022, and I said to my mom, "hey, what if we did a tour together?" My parents had been on several tours, but I was new to the touring life and had only traveled to Europe independently. That spark of an idea quickly turned into researching itineraries and looking at tour dates that would work with our schedules. Within two days, we had booked ourselves seats on the Loire to the South of France tour. We both had milestone birthdays coming up the following year, and this felt like the perfect way to celebrate. (Special shout out to my husband and kids for being so supportive in me going off on an adventure with my mom!). I have extensively used Rick Steves books and resources to plan my own travels, and knew that his tour philosophy, great guides, and small groups aligned with what I was interested in for my first guided tour. Who are the travelers? Meghan (the author!)- late thirties, public school teacher, and have been hooked on travel since I begged my parents to let me go on a high school Europe trip when I was 15. I love good food, wine, trying local beers, history, and exploring new cities on foot or bike. Laurie- my mom, retired, a Rick Steves tour veteran, and my accomplice as we learned and laughed our way through France. v Navigating this website: I have organized the scrapbook chronologically and by location. You can toggle to each page by clicking the city names at the top of the page, or you can click to each new location by clicking the black button at the bottom of each page. I have included hyperlinks to additional information where I thought it would be helpful or interesting. The "Extras" page has my packing list as well as a form to contact me if you have a question or comment. |
